The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Title I of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs.

The Standards for Electronic Transactions ("Transactions Rule")
This rule adopts standards for eight electronic transactions and for code sets to be used in those transactions. It also contains requirements concerning the use of these standards by health plans, health care clearinghouses, and certain health care providers.

Electronic Health Care Transactions and Code Sets Standards Model Compliance Plan
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' general instructions and model compliance plan for the Transactions Rule.

The Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information ("Privacy Rule")
The Privacy Rule creates national standards to protect individuals' personal health information and gives patients increased access to their medical records.

Administrative Simplification Compliance Act
